The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba (AFM) is a Crown agency providing a range of programs and services for individuals and family members living with addictions across Manitoba. We initially worked with AFM to help its Board of Governors develop a strategic plan. Starting with stakeholder research, ChangeMakers facilitated strategic planning sessions with the senior staff and then the Board of Governors, helping the organization review and affirm its vision, mission and values and produce a practical strategic plan it continues to use as an operational guide. We also facilitated a one-day planning session for representatives from the Addictions Agency Network, helping them identify issues to be addressed by AFM’s Knowledge Exchange Centre to inform and support the Network.
ChangeMakers was contracted by AFM to conduct an extensive literature review on addictions. We then wrote the course materials for the comprehensive three-day Fundamentals of Addictions course delivered by AFM to employees in the addictions field. The 104-page literature review is used as a reference in the course that we helped pilot, revise and then designed the instructors’ guide, PowerPoint and student manual.
