Making Change, Honouring History with the Royal Canadian Mint

The coin marks the 75^th anniversary of the Winnipeg Grenadiers and the Royal Rifles of Canada, who fought in the Battle of Hong Kong.

Finance Minister Hon. Bill Mourneau – who was also on-hand for the unveiling – says the coin “pays a lasting tribute to the bravery and resolve of the Canadians who fought to defend Hong Kong in December 1941 and whose actions remind us all of the high cost of defending our values.”
