Everyone Has a Role to Play

That logic applies whether you’re on the job or on the hockey rink … and that’s the message of our newest campaign, SAFEty Night in Canada – a fast-paced, action-packed tilt that aims to engage Manitobans in being team players when it comes to safety and health in the workplace.

After all, it takes the whole team working together to have a safer workplace.

SAFE Work requires teamwork – and teams work best when everyone is involved, from the top floor right down to the shop floor. To demonstrate the effectiveness of teamwork, SAFE Work enlisted two hockey teams – the SAFEty Heroes and the Workplace Hazards.

The Heroes consist of all levels of the team from a variety of workplaces – retail, medical, office, auto and construction. The Hazards are represented by cuts, burns, slips, trips, falls and amputation.

In this pick-up game, the Hazards do their best to get in the way of the Heroes at every turn. But the Heroes stay focused and work together to defeat the Hazards. Watch the play-by-play call in the video below.

We used the iconic Canadian team sport of hockey as the backdrop for spreading the message of working together, regardless of position and industry. And we recruited the iconic voice of Curt Keilback – the voice of the Winnipeg Jets for many years – to do our play by play. Recruiting talent for the spot was also a team effort – as a couple of our sportier coworkers tapped into their networks to bring us 13 Manitobans who could skate, shoot and smile for the camera.

At ChangeMakers, making a SAFE Work sport is truly a team sport – everyone has a role to play.
