SAFE Farms is a program of SAFE Work Manitoba, the unified prevention organization responsible for promoting and delivering services related to workplace injury and illness prevention. SAFE Farms is designed to target the agricultural sector and promote employers’ responsibilities for safety and health. ChangeMakers worked with SAFE Work Manitoba to develop a section of the safemanitoba.com website devoted to farm safety information. Agricultural producers are more likely to seek out and use industry-specific information. The SAFE Farms microsite brings together all agriculture resources on safemanitoba.com in on place. Some SAFE Work Manitoba resources, such as bulletins, were rebranded SAFE Farms to ensure the audience knew this information was relevant to their operations. The SAFE Farms microsite launched in 2012. New resources have been added each year, and it is promoted in various agriculture trade publications and at industry trade shows. Traffic to the site has grown steadily since its launch, and it is the most-viewed industry-specific area of the SAFE website – a significant accomplishment considering that the agriculture sector represents a relatively small proportion of the Manitoba workforce.
